Spanish artist and Hollywood darling Domingo Zapata sold several of his paintings for ‘dough’ as in pizza dough.
The contemporary artist who at times is referred to as the next ‘Andy Warhol’ lives and works in NYC and is currently preparing a commemorative work for the lobby of Freedom Tower. In 2011 he was named ‘Artist to Watch’ by Whitehall.
Page Six is reporting Zapata sold $100,000 worth of paintings to pizza entrepreneur and owner of Garlic Pizza, Sasha Berg. Instead of opting for payment he asked for free pizza for families in need in the Bowery Mission, to the tune of $100,000.
The mission has been around in New York since 1879 and helps the homeless and hungry. Gracias –Domingo!
