Sofia Vergara’s Latin World Entertainment company has pitched and sold a half-hour comedy to the Fox network. The comedy “Speak American” revolved around the life of a Latina teacher who helps her students get rid of their accents and invites a stranger to introduce unconventional methods to help with “accent reduction”.
This show is one of several Latino-themed projects the Colombian actress and her team at Latin World Entertainment are working on. She recently agreed to executive produce “Killer Women” for ABC based on a Argentine TV series and launch a Spanish-language tech news site with CNET.
Latin World Entertainment is a Hispanic talent management and entertainment marketing firm co-founded by Vergara and Luis Balaguer in 1994.
Vergara, 41, is celebrating the ‘Best Comedy’ Emmy win last night at the 65th Annual Emmys award show. This is the fourth win in that category for the assemble show where Vergara plays Gloria Delgado Pritchett.
