Soccer great Cristiano Ronaldo is not like mere mortals that settle for a Facebook page or Twitter account – he has launched his own social network.
The network called ‘Viva Ronaldo’ will feature all things Ronaldo including exclusive content about the Real Madrid forward. The app is billed as the place where Ronaldo’s “true fans belong.” It is available for the iPhone and Android devices.
Die-hard fans will be able to interact with other like-minded fans while playing Ronaldo-themed games to win prizes. The site will also feature a twitter stream from the 28-year-old’s ‘Viva Ronaldo’ twitter account. Not many athletes would attempt to launch their own social network but Ronaldo is capitalizing on his role as the ‘most popular athlete’ on Facebook with over 60 million fans and some 40 million Twitter followers.
The site officially launched today in Funchal, Madeira in Portugal where Ronaldo was born.
Early this week the soccer great announced the opening of a museum honoring no one other than himself. The museum opened today and is located in Madeira.
Ronaldo won La Liga’s inaugural award for ‘Most Valuable Player’ in early December and is a finalist for FIFA’s Ballon dOr.
