A man making a routine withdrawal at a Spanish ATM was surprised by a snake, crawling out of the machine as he attempted to retrieve his cash.
Police said a man withdrawing money from a Caja Madrid ATM was able to grab his money before a snake attacked him.
He called police, who removed the animal, and took it to a shelter.
It is unclear how the snake got into the ATM; it could have come from the nearby countryside, or deliberately planted in the ATM by pranksters.
Police are investigating.
