“Al Viento y al Azar,” is a collection of socio-political essays and love-fiction stories compiled by Colombian singer Shakira, and penned by her father, William Mebarak.
The English title for the book, “In the Wind and at Random,” is a line from the existential poem “Canción de la Vida Profunda” by Colombian author Porfirio Barba Jacob.
“In ‘Al Viento y al Azar’, I was captivated by everything: the rebellious attitude of some of its texts, the anarchy in its structure, the brutal honesty in his words,” said Shakira, who also wrote the foreword.
Shakira will be in Bogotá today, for the launch of the book published by ‘Planeta.’
This is Mr. Mebarak’s fifth book; he is currently working on a sixth book, one about Shakira.
“It is not 100% biographical,” Mebarak said of his new book about his star daughter. “It’s objective its to be more a guide for parents.”
