If anyone is still listening to senior (not to be confused with senile) Senator John McCain then you would of heard some prophetic words on the relationship between Republicans and Latinos.
It appears, according to McCain, there is a problem with the relationship and/or its practically non-existent.
While speaking on MSNBC’s ‘The Daily Rundown’ McCain noted that if his state, Arizona, as well as other southwest border states don’t fix their Hispanic problem the states could be in play during election season and not decidedly Republican.
The Hispanic problem is one that consists of a growing demographic that does not view it is being respected.
Thanks to harsh immigration laws, to Voter ID laws, to abolishment of sanctuary cities, to negative commentary on any form of the DREAM Act many conservative Latinos voters are fleeing the Republican party and many others would never consider voting Republican even if its for the local dog catcher.
And in John McCain’s case it would be helpful if he didn’t blame all the Arizona forest fires on undocumented border crossers.
Host Chuck Todd then asked the Senator how and where do you start fixing the “Hispanic problem”?
“It starts with a way to address the issue of immigration in a humane and caring fashion, at the same time emphasizing the need to secure our borders because of the drug cartels and the people who transport people across our border and treat them terribly,” McCain replied.
