Real Madrid routed Bayern Munich 4-0 here Tuesday in the second leg of their Champions League semifinal, moving one step closer to a 10th title in Europe’s elite club competition.

Winning 5-0 on aggregate, the Blancos will have to wait for the outcome of Wednesday’s contest between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea to find out who they will face in next month’s final.

The embarrassing defeat at Munich’s Allianz Arena put an end to Bayern’s hopes of becoming the first club to win back-to-back Champions League crowns.

Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals apiece to inflict a career-worst defeat on Bayern coach Pep Guardiola, who was Real Madrid’s nemesis during his tenure at FC Barcelona.

Tuesday also marked the first time Real Madrid has won in Munich.

The Blancos’ 1-0 advantage from the first leg in Madrid weighed heavily on Bayern in the opening minutes, as the home town fans were impatient for a goal.

Bayern’s strikers tried to oblige, but found themselves banging their heads against the visitors’ defensive wall.

Ramos’ first goal came in the 15th minute off Gareth Bale’s corner kick and his second put the Blancos ahead 2-0 on the night just five minutes later.

Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer started to unravel and a poor clearance set up Ronaldo’s goal in the 34th minute.

The Portuguese international entered Tuesday’s match with 14 Champions League goals in 2013-2014, already a record for a single tourney.
