Reportedly Real Madrid has made football history by paying a record $130 million transfer fee to have the midfielding services of Gareth Bale.
Bale, 24, was Tottenham Spurs’ midfielder and was just one year into his four-year contract. He had concluded a successful five-year run with the team when his contract was renewed with Tottenham for another four-years.
Why would Bale leave and Tottenham accept?? The answer is obvious the money – Real Madrid is paying more than it paid for super star Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2009 and more than it paid for David Beckham in 2003. Real Madrid paid $9 million less to Manchester United for Ronaldo.
The Welshmen who is now the most expensive player in football history was player of the year in the Premier League last season while scoring 26 goals for his team. Reportedly he has agreed to a $600,000-per-week, six year contract.
The deal that was anticipated by many was hashed out late Saturday. Bale is expected to be presented to the legion of Real Madrid fans sometime tomorrow.
