Neither Shakira nor Real Madrid officials have yet provided any comments or explanations.
Shakira’s songs, which normally played before matches at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium will not help pump up the fans anymore, as the club has banned the Colombian artist.
“They [Real Madrid] might have decided to renew their before-game musical repertoire, though it is inevitable to suspect her relationship to Gerard Piqué might have something to do with it” said a Spanish language article published in Spain’s “Marca.”
In addition to making her relationship with Piqué official in a tweet that introduces him as her sun, Shakira announced not long ago a partnership between her Barefoot charity program, and the Barcelona Futbol Club, to provide displaced and poor children with education and opportunities.
Real Madrid President Florentino Perez presented Shakira—a self-professed Madrid fan, with the number 5-team jersey during his first tenure as president of the club some time ago, which makes the decision to leave Spain’s ‘meringue’ team waka-waka-less even more puzzling.
