President Obama Meets with Congressional Hispanic Caucus to Discuss Immigration

Today the President and Senior Administration Officials met with members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to discuss the importance of fixing the broken immigration system for our nation’s 21st century economic and security needs so that America can win the future. The President was also scheduled discuss how to work together to foster a constructive national conversation issue as everyone works to build a bipartisan consensus in Congress.

Key points to be discussed were:

-Responsibility from the federal government to secure our borders
-Accountability for businesses that break the law by undermining American workers and exploiting undocumented workers
-Responsibility from people who are living in the United States illegally
-Strengthen economic competiveness by creating a legal immigration system that meets our diverse needs
-Dedicating Unprecedented Resources to Secure the Border
-Making our Interior and Worksite Enforcement Efforts Smarter and More Strategic
-Improving our Legal Immigration System
