Mexican authorities impounded a bus and some office furniture belonging to Atlas soccer club in connection with a tax dispute, the team’s management said Friday.
The tax service says Atlas owes the treasury 4.6 million pesos ($365,000), a claim the club disputes.
Atlas took the matter to court and won a favorable judgment, but the government appealed and implemented the asset embargo pending a final ruling in the case.
The club said it expects to recover the bus and office furniture once it offers the government “supplementary” sureties for the ostensible tax debt.
Atlas, which is 1-1-1 going into the fourth week of the Clausura 2013 season, will host America on Saturday at Jalisco stadium in Guadalajara.
