Police have made an arrest in the killing of prominent chef and restaurateur Humberto Dominguez, Guatemala’s interior minister said Thursday.
Lester Antonio Santos Monterroso was apprehended late Wednesday at a residence in Villa Canales, south of the capital, Minister Mauricio Lopez Bonilla told reporters.
Police found a 9 mm pistol inside the residence, Lopez Bonilla said.
Dominguez, 54, was found dead April 8 on a dirt path in Villa Canales.
The chef was blindfolded and had a gunshot wound in the back of the neck.
Owner of Kakao restaurant, which specializes in traditional cuisine, Dominguez was named the country’s gastronomic ambassador in 2012 by the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism.
Dominguez was a native of the southern province of Santa Rosa and received his culinary training in Japan.
