Actors Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem have reportedly decided their baby will not be born in Spain but rather in the United States. This is the first child for the famous couple, who tied the knot in July. Cruz was born in Madrid and Bardem was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.
Journalist Cristina Tárrega recently said on the Spanish TV show, “El programa de Ana Rosa,” that Cruz and husband, “Biutiful” star Javier Bardem, plan to be at their home in Hollywood for the Holiday Season in Los Angeles. With their son due in January, all indications are that the child will be born in the US.
Tárrega went on to explain to the many disappointed Spanish fans, that actors’ wish is for their son to have dual citizenship, and since the two own an estate in Hollywood—and Spain grants citizenship to foreign born if a parent is born in Spain, the child will be born in the US. Cruz was born in Madrid and Bardem was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.
Best Wishes to Penelope and Javier and their son. Let us hope that using terms like “illegal aliens”, “illegal immigrants” and “anchor babies” will soon go the way of other dehumanizing words that we rarely see used in current day media.
