A U.S. man who faces criminal charges in his homeland was detained while trying to sneak into Panama from neighboring Costa Rica, Panamanian authorities said Thursday.
Sage Million, 61, was apprehended Wednesday as he tried to cross the border in a remote zone of the Rio Sereno sector of Chiriqui province, the Senafront border security service said in a statement.
Senafront and immigration personnel realized that Million, described as a “dangerous subject” was a fugitive and they contacted the U.S. Embassy in Panama City, according to the statement.
U.S. diplomats confirmed that Million is wanted on various charges, including sexual assault of a minor and making terrorist threats, Senafront said.
