Last year Mexico City performed over 600 same sex marriages in the first full year after the civil code was overhauled in December of 2009 and enacted on March 4, 2010.
Of those same sex marriages, ten percent , or 60, were foreigners coming from all over the world as far as England and the Philippines. 318 marriages were performed between male couples and 294 performed for female couples.
The majority of marriages were for same-sex couples between the ages of 31 and 40, however two women age 81 and 90 were also married.
