At 14, 16 and 20 years old, three Ohio women were kidnapped by Ariel Castro. After being held captive for a decade or more, the women were finally discovered and rescued in May.

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight have now released a video in response to the love and support they have received from their Cleveland community and across the world.

Castro, 52, who fathered a child with Berry, and impregnated and caused an abortion with Knight, is facing 329 counts. He has pled not guilty.

Since their daughter was rescued, Dina DeJesus’ parents have set up a fund to help the three women. They continue to encourage those with missing loved one to ask for assistance, saying, “Don’t be afraid to ask for the help because help is available.”

In the video, Knight says, “I may have been through hell and back, but I am strong enough to walk through hell with a smile on my face and my head held high,” she said, reading from a prepared statement. “I will not let the situation define who I am. I will define the situation. I don’t want to be consumed by hatred.”
