After being held captive by Ariel Castro for 10 years, his three victims were given the opportunity to maintain a connection with one of the only positive things about their otherwise horrid experience.

Gina DeJesus, Amanda Berry, and Michelle Knight were recently given the opportunity to adopt Castro’s dogs before they were offered to the public.

According to the Cleveland Kennel, DeJesus, now 23, will take Lola, a terrier mix.

The young woman’s attorney reportedly picked up Lola from the shelter.

DeJesus and the other victims bonded with the dogs while held captive below Castro’s Ohio home, but to punish them, Castro took the dogs away.

A chihuahua named Dina and a Shih Tzu mix named Drake were also taken from the home, and should be up for adoption within the next two weeks through Dogs Unlimited Rescue.

DeJesus was reunited with her family last month and will soon be reunited with her furry friend, Lola.
