Photo: Bachman and Perry Fight over Illegal Immigration
Rep. Michele Bachmann has been trying to figure out how to regain the lead she had in the Republican Presidential primary until Texas Governor Rick Perry entered the race and decided attacking his stance on illegal immigration is the way.
This week, The Hill is reporting, she will unveil radio ads attacking the Texas governor’s stance on illegal immigration which she clearly views as weak. Many tea party conservatives like Bachmann do not agree with Perry signing a bill in 2001 allowing children of undocumented immigrants to receive in-state tuition.
In the ad Bachmann will point out she believes E-Verify should be the law of the land, mandating all employers to check the legal status of employees. She points out that Perry doesn’t and therefore “illegals take jobs.”
Bachmann also feel that illegal immigration in a border state like Texas has become worse and that it happened while Perry was on watch for the last 10 years as governor. While Perry may agree with Bachmann that illegal immigration is getting worse he blames the federal government.
Neither candidate has acknowledged several credible non-partisan reports that puts illegal immigration levels at its lowest since records were taken.
