Hidalgo County Sheriff’s in Texas have ruled singer Chuy Quintanilla’s death a homicide with death resulting from gunshot wounds to the head and neck.

The narco-singer was reported missing Wednesday night by family members.  His body was found laying in a pool of blood the next morning in a grapefruit orchards north of Mission, Texas.

Local authorities are keeping a tight lid on details around the murder investigation but will more than likely investigate whether the beloved singer’s choice of music was a factor in his death.

Quintanilla and his deceased brother Beto were known for their narco-corrido songs paying attention and homage to different Mexican drug cartels.

His family will lay to rest the popular singer and beloved family member today near his home in Palmview, Texas.
