Rafa is back without question. The Spanish tennis star won his record 8th French Open title defeating his fellow countrymen David Ferrer in three straight sets.
This win of 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 gives Nadal, 27, his 12th Grand Slam title placing him third for Grand Slam titles behind Pete Sampras (14) and record holder Roger Federer (17).
Ferrer, 31, came into the French Open 2013 men’s final as the underdog this being his first Grand Slam final. The only doubts people had about Nadal was his energy leveling after playing a 5-hour semi-final to the World No. 1 player Novak Djokovic and his seven months off from play due to a knee injury.
The only unexpected bit of news came when a shirtless man interrupted play when he was able to get on to the Philippe Chartrier Court brandishing a lighted flare. He was immediately tackled by security and play continued.
