Musician Jason Molina Loses Battle with Alcohol at 39

Musician and songwriter Jason Molina has lost his battle with alcohol dying at age 39 reportedly from organ failure due to his alcohol consumption.

The alternative music icon produced 15 albums in his career, his most recent in 2010 was ‘Autumn Bird Songs’.  Molina is best know as the front man for the Magnolia Electric Co. and Ohia songs. In 2009 Molina stopped touring “to deal with severe alcoholism,” according to his record label Secretly Canadian.

Molina was reported to have spent the last years of his life on a West Virigina farm while going in and out of rehab for his addiction. 

The musician died at his home on Saturday, March 16, 2013,  in Indianapolis with his record label immediately launching a memorial fund to pay his medical expenses.
