The first weekend of Rock in Rio, saw over 700,000 fans rock out to headliners Rihanna, Katy Perry, Elton John and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
“Rock in Rio,” the largest music festival in the world, kicked off Friday back in Rio de Janeiro for the first time in 10 years.
Brazil’s own Claudia Leitte was followed by Katy Perry, Elton John and Rihanna, who fired up the first weekend of the festival. Saturday also saw international stars Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol and Milton Nascimento with Esperanza Spalding. Sunday was all about heavy metal, with appearances by Coheed and Cambria, Motörhead, Slipknot, Metallica, and legendary Brazil’s own Sepultura.
The festival will start again on Thursday, with performances by KE$HA, Jamiroquai, Stevie Wonder and Joss Stone.
Other weekend highlights include Lenny Kravitz, Shakira, Maná, Maroon 5, Coldplay, Guns N’ Roses, and System of a Down among many others.
