Good news for all you Demian Bichir fans, FX has renewed “The Bridge,” where he stars with Diane Kruger, for a second season.
The U.S.-Mexico border drama was renewed for 13-episodes. This season’s finale will air next week on October 2. The show has been well received, averaging 3.65 million viewers with half of them from the coveted 18-49 demographic, according to TheWrap.
The drama series was one of the top new scripted cable series of the season. The second season will launch next summer.
The 49-year-old Mexican actor plays police officer Marco Ruiz from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and Kruger Sonya Cross from El Paso, Texas.
The Oscar-nominated Bichir said of the series “Different issues that concern both countries are implicit in the drama and the story.” “The fact that a series made in the United States talks about the deaths in Juarez is very interesting.”
