California police officers may be in trouble after photographs of them posing in uniform with scantily clad women who pose both next to and on their police vehicles.

Tuesday, two sets of photos were delivered anonymously to the Modesto Police Chief, the city manager, and certain media outlets.

ImageThe photos are said to have been taken in Modesto’s Downtown Entertainment District, which is the heart of the city’s nightlife, and where police officers patrol at night and over the weekend.

The two officers identified in the photos are Officers ‘Y. Oaxaca’, an eight-year member of the force, and Horacio Ruiz, who is said to have been “separated from employment” two and a half years ago for undisclosed reasons.

An investigation is ongoing, but upon seeing the photos, Chief Mike Harden told the Modesto Bee he was ‘alarmed’ and ‘concerned’. He added that he surely does not condone what he saw.

In a prepared statement, Harden said, “The Modesto Police Department remains committed to providing professional services to our citizens. Although this incident is a blemish to the department, this behavior does not represent the hard work and commitment from the men and women of this organization. We understand the importance of maintaining a professional organization and we are committed to maintaining the trust of those we serve.”
