Peruvian police on Saturday found the wreckage of a helicopter missing for four days in the Andes mountains and said there was no sign of survivors, officials told Efe.

A National Police search-and-rescue team found the chopper carrying two crewmen and 12 tourists, including eight Koreans, on the side of a 5,000-meter-tall (16,400-foot-tall) mountain, a spokesperson for the police station in the small southeastern town of Urcos, where the operation was being coordinated, told Efe.

In the first reports from the remote crash site, authorities “have not confirmed any survivors, as apparently everyone regrettably died,” the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, Cesar Guevara, a local government official in Urcos, told RPP radio that police reported the discovery of some bodies but that he could not yet provide a full official report.

The helicopter was carrying eight Koreans, a Dutchman, a Swede, a Czech and three Peruvians, including the pilot and co-pilot.

It disappeared late Wednesday afternoon while flying from the southeastern jungle region of Madre de Dios to the neighboring region of Cuzco.
