Miss Universe Olivia Culpo Named ‘Madrina’ of the Latino Commission on AIDS

Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, was recognized as this year’s Madrina of the Latino Commission on AIDS in a media reception at Melibea Restaurant in New York City where she invited all to attend the upcoming Cielo Latino gala, the largest fundraiser for Latino AIDS initiatives in the US to be held May 17th at Cipriani Wall Street.

“We are very excited about Olivia’s involvement with the Latino Commission on AIDS and her willingness to become this year’s Madrina with a particular focus in taking our prevention message directly to youths all over the world,” said Guillermo Chacón, President of the Latino Commission on AIDS, who explained Madrinas of the organization are those individuals who commit themselves to promote prevention and education related to HIV & AIDS.”

“In the Latino culture the role of the Madrina (Godmother) is very important, as they are either a family member or very dear friend entrusted with another member for support.

Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo joins a group of vital supporters, all of whom are active voices committed to reaching a world without AIDS, including Carmen Dominicci, India, Paulina Rubio and past Miss Universe winners Ximena Navarrete, Dayana Mendoza and Stefania Fernandez.
