A last gasp winner from Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez was the difference in Mexico’s 2-1 victory over Bosnia this week.
The match was played at Solider Field in Chicago and over 51,000 people braved the rain and cool temperature to watch the international friendly.
Hernandez scored the goal in the dying minutes after several defensive errors by Bosnia defenders. The ball ended up at the feet of the Manchester United forward and he beat goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
Mexico drew first flood in the sixth minute through Aldo De Nigris. Bosnia replied just before the half-hour mark on a goal from Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.
The atmosphere was electric at Solider Field. Typically when Mexico plays in Chicago there is an overwhelming majority of fans of El Tri. However, there was almost an equal moment of Bosnia supporters on Thursday. Throughout the match fans chanted to encourage their players, which demonstrated great pride toward their country.
This match proved that Solider Field is one of the premier destinations in America to host international soccer because of fans and atmosphere.
