CRIME: Five bullet-ridden bodies, all male, were found by police near Guadalajara, Mexico.  No one has been implicated in the killings of these men all in their 20’s and 30’s.

ARRESTS:  Mexico federal police are announcing key arrests of a leader in Los Zetas, members of the La Familia Michoacana cartel and drug lord Edgar Valdez.  The Zeta leader, Juan Gallegos is wanted for the killings of two university students killed by stray bullets during a shootout in Monterrey, Mexico early this year.

The five members of La Familia cartel arrested are suspected of running the criminal operations for the cartel in Morelia, Michoacan – a key drug cartel holding.

Edgar Valdez, known as “Barbie” was one of the most wanted men in Mexico with a $2million reward on his head.  He is thought to be the leader of the Beltran Leyva drug cartel running the cocaine distribution business.  Valdez is a U.S. citizen and was captured in Mexico City.

SECURITY:  The Miguel Caballero clothing company is now marketing bulletproof guayaberas, shirts and jackets that are lightweight and fashionable throughout Mexico and Latin America.  The materials used for the bulletproof fashion line is the same used by NASA for spacesuits.  Most of the clothing at first glance does not appear to bulletproof or handcrafted to protect the wearer.
