An 11-year-old girl was arrested for selling marijuana and crack in a poor neighborhood of the Caribbean resort city, Cancun, Mexican authorities said Wednesday.
The suspect, who was on a motorcycle, was pulled over for speeding at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, the Cancun Public Safety Office said in a statement.
Noticing that the young biker was nervous, the officers searched her belongings and found the drugs.
The girl told police that someone she identified only as “Jonathan” supplied her with marijuana and crack to sell in the slums of Cancun, according to the official statement.
Mexican drug-dealing outfits sometimes hire youngsters to work as sellers or distributors.
Cancun is Mexico’s leading destination for foreign tourists, especially visitors from the United States.
