Mexican Mother Sells Newborn to American to Pay for Other Child’s Cancer Treatment

Morelos legal authorities are disclosing the arrest of a Mexican national, a midwife and a U.S. citizen for human trafficking of a new born.

According to the State’s Attorney General the mother, a 30-year old unemployed woman, sold her new born infant to a midwife who in turn handed the baby over to a U.S. woman.

The mother who was already supporting four children received $416 from the midwife,  while the midwife was paid $1,670 from the American woman from McAllen, Texas.

The American citizen, tentatively identified as Antonia Martinez, was caught when she applied to get the child a visa at the American Embassy without the proper documentation.  Upon investigating authorities found out the mother sold her newborn to pay for cancer treatment for one of her four existing children.
