Photo: Mexican Mother Gives Birth to Sextuplets, Had Quadruplets 12 Years Ago
A woman in Mexico had an emergency Caesarean section on Thursday to deliver the sextuplets she was only able to carry for 27 weeks due to internal bleeding and anemia. Even more astonishing was the fact that this was not her first multiple pregnancy. Twelve years ago she was pregnant with quadruplets.
Sadly, the story of both of Salud Romero’s pregnancies are not entirely happy.
Only 3 of the 4 quadruplets born 12 years ago survived, and this pregnancy saw similar tragedy.
Weighing between 1.25 and 2 pounds, the sextuplets, who were not conceived using any fertility treatments, each had limited pulmonary function.
By midday two of the six newborns reportedly passed away.
Romero, 32, who is said to be doing well physically, is from Morelia, Mexico. The sextuplets’ father is 20-year-old drywall installer Yosio Salinas Rodriguez.
To help the family, a donation program has been set up for the family.
Prior to the sextuplets’ delivery, the family believed there were only five in the womb. Romero and Salinas Rodriguez also have another child together. The quadruplets were from a previous relationship.
