An inmate in Sonora, Mexico, was caught holding sweepstakes for 3 “luxury suite” prison cells!
Inmate Juan Manuel Márquez, serving time for murder at the Cereso 1 jail of Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, raised about $3,000 in tickets for the raffle of one prison cell fully equipped with wooden cabinets, a fridge, TV, a DVD player and even air conditioning.
He was caught before he could auction another two not as lavish (but definitely lavish for a maximum security prison), furnished opulently with complicity of bribed guards. Also included was a prayer area for the religious criminal.
Last week Márquez was sent to a punishment area and the cells were destroyed.
