The world’s richest man Carlos Slim has just bought the Duke-Semans mansion across the street from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Carlos was the winner during a bidding war with a Russian buyer whose starting bid was $37 million. The deal was closed at $44 million cash. The new acquisition adds to the list of real estate already owned by the multi-billionaire including a major office building in Manhattan and a major interest in the New York Times.
The $7 million difference should not dent the billionaire’s pocket book whose estimated net worth is $53.5 billion.
