Oscar-winning actor and director Mel Gibson has put his holiday home in Costa Rica on the market after family troubles. The recently divorced actor owns several holiday properties around the world including Australia and a private island in Fiji.
The 500-acre home in Costa Rica is on a hill-top, and includes a beachfront view and is alongside an exotic jungle. The main residence of the property is a two-story house with seven bedroom, eight bathrooms, a large courtyard, and a swimming pool all in hacienda-style. A small Balinese entertaining house, a restaurant, and another small cottage in the jungle are all included in the overall property.
He initially placed the property on the market in 2010 for $35 million.
Gibson has 7 children from his 26 year-long marriage with Robyn Moore that ended in divorce in 2009. He also has one child from his relationship with Oksana Grigorieva, a Russian pianist, which also ended in a bitter breakup.
According to reports, Gibson used the home during his legal troubles with Girgorieva and was photographed there in 2009 before his divorce. The estate was used frequently by his large family before the troubles of his personal life. Along with these troubles, his acting roles have also diminished due to controversies after several anti-Semitic remarks he made during DUI arrest in 2006.
