Ryan Brunn, 20, was suspected of killing 7-year-old Jorelys Rivera after he says he panicked after molesting her.
The young maintenance man is said to have killed himself in his cell, but the state Department of Corrections said his death was still under investigation.
Brunn was found unresponsive in his cell at around 4:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon. He surprised many this week when he pled guilty at a hearing Tuesday. At the hearing, he described in detail what happened the day he molested and killed little Jorelys.
After entering the plea, he was quickly sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
At the hearing he apologized to Jorelys’ family.
His autopsy was likely to occur on Friday.
