Former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s wife Marisa Leticia shaved him Wednesday at their home in the industrial city of Sao Bernardo do Campo, near Sao Paulo.
66 year old Lula, was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx last month and started chemotherapy to treat the illness on Halloween day.
The former president of Brazil asked his wife Marisa Leticia to shave his head ahead of the second round of chemo, scheduled for Monday.
A final round of chemo has been scheduled for December. In January, he is set to undergo radiotherapy.
Doctors at the Hospital Sirio-Libanes in Sao Paulo have stressed that Lula, has very good chances of a full recovery.
Lula has been visited by several notable personalities, including current Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who suffered from cancer herself in 2009 and resorted to wearing a wig.
