Some of the luggage aboard the missing Venezuelan plane of Missoni executive, Vittorio Missoni, has been located on the Caribbean island of Curacao.

On January 4, 2013 Missoni, his wife Maurizia Castiglioni, two friends and two pilots left from Venezuela’s popular Los Roques enroute to Caracas, Venezuela.  The group was vacationing in South America, when their plane was reported missing shortly after take-off.

Shortly after the plane disappeared, Venezuelan authorities and the Missoni family went searching for the plane on land and sea.  As of today no traces of the plane have been found.

Vittorio, 58, is the oldest son of Ottavio Missoni, founder of a high-end fashion house and a luxury hotel chain bearing the family name.

Italian media described Vittorio, the fashion house’s marketing director, as the Missoni brand’s global ambassador.

The piece of luggage recovered actually belonged to a passenger that was on another flight that left Los Roques minutes earlier than the Missoni flight.  Curacao is some 125 miles from Los Roques.

As a result of the discovery searchers will now focus in the Caribbean.
