“Lizzie McGuire” Actor Daniel Escobar Dies at 49 from Diabetes Complications

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that veteran actor Daniel Escobar has died of complications from diabetes at the age of 49.

The Latino actor is best known as Mr. Escobar on the Disney television show “Lizzie McGuire.”  The actor has also been seen on other popular television shows like “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Two and a Half Men,” “Charmed,” among others.  Escobar appeared on “Lizzie McGuire from 2001-02 on the Disney channel.  He then reprised the role in 2003 in “The Lizzie McGuire Movie.”

Escobar, though better known for his television roles, also appeared in the films “The Mexican” and “Blow.”  His theater work was vast and highly acclaimed.  He won the Helen Hayes Award in 2008 for his role in the Woolly Mammoth Theater’s production of “She Stoops to Comedy.” 

Reports indicate he died on Friday at a Los Angeles area hospital.
