Rapper and the ultimate hip guy, Snoop Lion, is promoting ‘The Caliber Collection” to recycle confiscated illegal guns into jewelry.

The new line of jewelry are bracelets made from confiscated AK-47’s.  The bracelets are made from guns confiscated by the Newark, New Jersey Police Department that are then melted-down. The bracelet carries the unique serial number of an illegal firearm obtained by the Newark police.

When you buy ‘MTV x Caliber’ wristwear you will help fund gun buyback programs.  For every $40 spent on a ‘MTV x Caliber’ $8 goes toward taking more illegal guns off our streets.

Snoop Lion, formerly known as Snoop Dogg, just launched a new album titled ‘Reincarnated’ out on iTunes which contains the song “No Guns Allowed”.  The song is Snoop’s call for peace on the street; the rapper is joined on the song by his daughter Cori B and fellow rapper Drake.

Illegally guns are traced to many crimes in the U.S. and more than 250,000 guns are illegally smuggled into Mexico contribuing to the violence of the ongoing narco wars.  A recent report by the Trans-Border Institute found that “the United States is a significant, albeit unintentional, contributor to the global black market in arms and ammunition (and specifically in Mexico).”
