Fair organizers said the Big Tex Choice Awards for best tasting and most creative concession foods will be announced Monday but there were alot of winning and creative Latino dishes there.  “El Bananarito” and the “Walking Taco” are among the finalists that include fried bubblegum and deep fried salsa!

The finalist dishes include the bananarito, half banana half burrito, made by wrapping a banana in a tortilla with whipped cream, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla extract, then deep fry it.  Low calories we presume??

Also runner up for most delicious concoction at the Texas fair is the Walking Taco, a taco complete with meat, lettuce, onion, fresh tomato, grated cheese, sour cream and salsa served inside a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos.  Creative and gross at the same time.

We’ll tell you on Monday who took the prize; in the meantime, we are going to dig out our deep fryer, and see if we can treat us to some Thursday night bananaritos!
