Puerto Rican mother Betsian Carrasquillo Penaloza has been arrested under suspicion of prostituting her 14-year-old daughter.

The girls were being taken to the hotel after Carrasquillo unknowingly met with undercover agents and told them the prices to sleep with the girls.
As of Friday, Carrasquillo had not entered a plea and remained in jail.
According to the criminal complaint, Carrasquillo, also known as “Gordi la comehombres” (“Fatty the Maneater”), was offering sex with her teenage daughter for $500 and $750 for sex the other two girls.
On Monday, Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin pointed to this case as yet another example of a need for change.
“This regrettable case of child prostitution reported in Puerto Rico is another horrible example that human trafficking is a crime that does not give options to their victims. We have to influence out society to understand that we have an invisible crime on which it necessary to act.”
The singer is the president and founder of the Ricky Martin Foundation, which was formally established in 2005 to advocate for the well being of children around the world. The foundation’s principal program, People for Children, condemns child exploitation as a result of human trafficking.
