Photo: Police Looking for Latino Male Who Rammed Car into Firefighter After Fight
Police are looking for the Latino man responsible for the injuries that sent a California firefighter to the hospital in critical condition after an altercation at a fast-food restaurant.
Albert Bartal, 29, was eating at a San Francisco Jack in the Box restaurant just before 2 a.m. Thanksgiving night, unaware that he would soon be fighting for his life.
Bartal and a still unidentified man got into a physical altercation inside the restaurant before bystanders separated the men and Bartal left.
Witnesses say the former Marine walked to a nearby Shell station, only to be followed by the other man who was driving a Mazda CX SUV. The man then rammed his vehicle into Bartal when he reached the gas station before fleeing the scene.
The Bay Area firefighter suffered traumatic brain injuries as a result of being hit. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where doctors say he is in critical condition.
The man driving the Mazda was described as a Latino or mixed-race male, 18-24 years old, with short black hair and a manicured beard. He will likely be charged with attempted murder and assault when/if he is caught.
Bartal is a single father of a two-year old child.
Surveillance footage from the restaurant can be seen below. Towards the end of the video, still shots were captured of the man who ran into Bartal.
