Photo: LATINO BLOTTER: Loco Runs Over His Girlfriend With His Wife’s Car, Crashes Hours Later
A woman is in stable condition after she was allegedly run over by her boyfriend and left bleeding in the road.
The man, Ricaury Pena, 28, was driving his wife’s SUV – a 2006 Honda Pilot – when he got angry with his secret lover, and mowed her down around 3:16 a.m. in New York’s Manhattan neighborhood, just outside the bar where the girlfriend worked as a waitress, and he as a bouncer. Pena then drove away and left the 23-year-old woman injured in the street, witnesses say.
Before police could track Pena down however, he crashed his wife’s vehicle near the Harlem River Drive ramp of the George Washington bridge. Pena reportedly smashed and flipped the SUV 8:13 a.m. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition.
The hit-and-run victim and Pena are said to be at the same hospital.
The estranged wife, Rosa Estevez, told New York Daily News that Pena has “issues in his head.” The couple has a three-year-old daughter together.
“He’s my husband. He’s not supposed to be cheating,” she said. “I have no idea what was going on. All I know is they got into a fight - an argument, and he hit her,” she said.
One of Pena’s relatives told the New York Daily News, “He’s doing perfectly fine now. He’s recovering very well,” and said she cannot understand why people are saying he ran the girl over.
“I don’t know why the newspapers were saying he was a maniac who ran over his girlfriend. That wasn’t really what happened,” she said, but would not give any kind of explanation.
