Pasadena authorities in California have arrested Javier Adolfo Viera, 35, on suspicsion of setting 25 brush and/or car fires over the last four months. Apparently Viera arson binge started in November with him throwing out incendiary devices, concocted at home, from his car at dry brush in the Pasadena area.
Police allege he then escalated his arson by setting fires to parked cars. Fortunately no one has been reported injured from his fires. This past Saturday Viera’s finger prints were found on an incendiary device used to start a car fire, he was put under surveillance on Sunday and subsequently arrested when he was observed trying to start another car fire.
In his defense Viera, the father of three young children, said financial stress and emotional issues drove him to commit acts of arson. Damaging evidence was found in his home when police arrived to investigate.
