Photo: Girl Scout Troop Leader Steals $6k From Her Girls, Goes Shopping
A California Girl Scout troop leader has many angry after she used her troop’s debit card to go on a shopping spree.
South El Monte troop leader, Ana Juarez, 30, was arrested on April 17 after it was discovered she used the debit card to go pamper herself.
The troop’s co-leader, Verna de los Reyes, says about $2,000 from the account was used to buy things like gas, manicures/pedicures, and items from Nordstroms, and Victoria’s Secret. On top of that, Juarez took about $4,000 in cash which was raised during the Girl Scout cookie sale, during with the girls sold about 500 boxes of cookies.
She even stole from her own daughter, as Juarez’s 11-year-old was in the troop as well.
After the Girl Scouts organization reported the missing money, Juarez was arrested by the Arcadia Police Department and charged with felony grand theft and is due in court on May 8.
This is not her first brush with the law, however. Juarez reportedly had an arrest warrant out for her arrest stemming from a 2001 grand theft embezzlement case.
