A California man was recently charged with vandalism for his attempt to make his area safer.
Anthony Cardenas, 52, of Vallejo, Calif. was arrested last week for “vandalizing” a street by painting a crosswalk on it.
Cardenas told police he did it because the busy intersection needed it.
According to NBC Bay Area, “The crosswalk Cardenas painted is not your typical double-gold line crosswalk. He painted two white lines with a criss-cross pattern.”
Not long after Cardenas was arrested, a police cadet was stationed at the intersection to keep people from using the “fake crosswalk.” State transportation workers painted over Cardenas’ lines later that day.
On Friday, Cardenas remained behind bars at Solano County Jail in lieu of $15,000. He has been charged with felony vandalism.
