Latinas Outraged over MAC’s New Fall Line

Many Latinas MAC Cosmetic users are outraged over MAC’s new line of makeup due out this fall inspired by the town of Juarez, Mexico. The city is one of the deadliest because of Mexican drug cartels and hundreds of women who have been found dead, raped, beaten, and mutilated.

The line is a joint venture between MAC and fashion company Rodarte who unknowingly offended the families of women who have fallen victims to the crime there. In separate statements both companies have released apologies to the public and MAC has changed the name of the new line of cosmetics, and agreed to donate $100,000 to a non-profit organization that improves the livelihood of women in Juarez.

Some of the original names included: Ghost town, Sleepless, Del Norte, Bordertown, Sleepwalker, Badlands, Softly Drifting, Factory, Juarez.
