Latin American and U.S. Special Forces Engage in Friendly Competition

On Monday, “Fuerzas Comando” a friendly competition between U.S. and Latin American commando units began in the Dominican Republic with over 500 participants.  The eight day competition has been held for seven years and sees teams from Argentina to Uruguay to Panama compete and is hosted by the U.S. Southern command in an effort to promote friendly relations.

The event includes skill tests on marksmanship and parachute jumping while conferences are held on security issues faced by these elite military forces.  Brazil is the reigning champion and Ecuador was in the lead as of today.
