Spain’s King Juan Carlos will undergo the second surgical procedure needed to implant a permanent prosthesis in his left hip on Nov. 21, the Royal Palace said Monday.
Dr. Miguel Cabanela, who removed the monarch’s infected left hip prosthesis on Sept. 24, will perform the operation at Madrid’s Quiron Hospital.
The doctor, an expert on hip problems, works at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
This will be King Juan Carlos’s ninth operation since 2010 and the fifth surgical procedure on his hip.
The 75-year-old king was unable to attend the Ibero-American Summit in Panama last month because he was recovering from surgery. EFE
