Jose Canseco didn’t show to a hearing in which Celebrity Boxer Founder Damon Feldman was suing him.

Feldman was awarded more than $7,600 “because the defendant did not show up, even though he was given ample notification of the hearing,” according to a Broomall District Court spokesperson.

In March, Canseco was paid $5,000 upfront by Feldman to compete in a celebrity boxing match to which José sent his twin brother Ozzie. Upon the discovery, Ozzie was escorted out of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino by police officers.

Canseco refused to return the money that Feldman said he advanced to the former baseball player, because Canseco told him he needed it for expenses related to his father’s funeral.

“We received a default judgment since Canseco did not show up, which was not a surprise,” Mr. Feldman’s attorney, Robert Bush said. “We will now go after Mr. Canseco in an attempt to collect on it.”
